TS My research has helped me along the way of this project.
SD One of the things it has helped me with is to understand the amount of people in poverty
CM Like how people 925 million people are hungry in the world
CM I have learned more about the reasons that people are in poverty
SD It has made it more clear about why there are so many people out of jobs
CM Because that's what the Salvation Army does is help people out of jobs stay up.
CM Like how the economy in 2010 put 100-150 million into poverty.
SD It related a lot to my work
CM It showed me that just because theres a lot of people in poverty doesn't mean theres no hope
CM Theres also many people out there fighting and helping those who are less fortunate
CS These are just some of the things that helped my in my work.

Assesment Visit #7
Today at the Salvation Army there were so many people there. I walked in and got assigned the job to go through and pick up all the cloths that costumers had left on the floor. There was one customer trying on a orange paisley dress. There was a couple of other volunteers taking off tags and rushing around. We were all trying to work fast enough for the customers. One little boy came in looking for a coat with his mother. He left with a blue one. Since this was my last visit, i was thinking a lot about the past weeks and the store. I came to the conclusion that the Salvation Army has a reputation that the cloths inside are for people who live off the streets but that's really not the case its more for the people who are barley getting by. More for family's maybe people that have been lauded off and are struggling to buy cheep cloths they can spend more money on food for there kids.

Today was my second to last visit to the Salvation Army in New London, CT. It was a lot different this time. Since we didn't have school, I went during the day at around 10:00 A.M. Since most people are working at that time, the store wasn't very busy. While I was there a couple of people drifted in and out. One middle aged woman walked in with a baby stroller that was blue with elephants on it. Her baby was sleeping with a green blanket over him. She strolled around the store looking at all the clothing. Today there weren't a lot of staff working at the Salvation Army but the staff that was there was in a good mood. Some were standing outside wishing the people that walked by the store a Happy Valentines
Day. This made me feel good, seeing people spreading the love of Valentines Day to others less fortunate. They also offered to let the people come into the store since it was cold outside

TS Now after the whole experience looking back i would have done a couple of things differently
SD One thing i would have done was get the majority of the visits done earlier
CM The reason is because we now at the end have to do so much English home work It would be essayer to have all the visits done
CM I also had a period were I was really stressed out about finishing the visits.
SD Another thing that i had troubles with was all the snow
CM Since my site was in New London CT it was hard to get over there expectantly with the snow
CM So I would change the site to something closer to where I live.
SD Even though i got a lot out of working at the Salvation I found my self doing the same thing over again
CM If I could do this again I would choose a site that gave me more variety
TS I enjoyed working at my site over-all

Today when I went to the Salvation Army there were many volunteers that had worked the whole day, more than I've seen before. I went and relieved some of them by helping sort clothing and answering questions for customers. We got a lot accomplished in just the hour I was there. One half of the store was organized and we rearranged all the sizing so that customers could go and find stuff easier. The people were going through the store quickly. One lady walked in with pink running pants, a pair of Nike shoes, a black and pink striped jacket and a white hat. She left empty handed, I guess she didn't find what she was looking for.

Assesment #4
This was my forth visit at the Salvation Army. This week the goal was to reorganize the whole store because they got new cloths in and the clothes that had been in the store for a while and not been sold were going to be 50 % off. My job this week was to go through every rack and take all the clothes with white tags went in a big bin. The bin was bright yellow and it had box letters on all for sides that said "Salvation Army, New Haven CT."This week there was many people in the Store this week, since the store is under new management it is doing a lot better. There is more organization so people can walk in and find what they need easier. I have had a really good experience at my site, and i feel like I've helped the community a lot.

Bell Word-Choose
Echo Word- Selection,potion,preference
TS- Why did I choose the Salvation Army?
SD- My Inspiration to volunteer at the salvation army was walking by a woman dressed in all red ringing a bell upfront of the grocery store right in front of Christmas time.
CM- She was doing this to collect money and ask for donations
CM-This gave me a new idea for a place that i could do my assessment and make a difference.
SD-Before this i was going back and forth between ideas.
CM- But when i saw the salvation army sign the idea seemed like a good one.
CM- I thought it would be a good place to make a difference in the community.
SD- I knew it would give me a chance to help a lot of people and support the salvation army, a world wide charity.
CM- It also gave me a chance to do something that not many people in the 8th grade were doing
CM-I also choose this because it was around the holiday time and that's when the salvation army need the most help.
CS- I knew it would be a excellent place for my assessment and i had a great experience volunteering there.

Essay #10 In-Class
Everything Has to Come Around in a Circle;
Sooner or later
An Essay By Hanna Kronholm
Tuesday, February 8, 2011
In To Kill A Mocking Bird, there are so many events happening it’s hard to remember the most important one. The plot of the story is to make Boo Radley come out. There are a lot of events that happen in the middle that make us wonder if Boo is ever going to come out. Harper Lee, the author, brings it all around in the last few chapters of the book. She brings the book around in a circle almost like the opening and closing of a book. She keeps us guessing through out the story making us wonder and leaving us hanging at the end of every chapter. Just like in life, there are things that leave you hanging and things that come around in a circle.
TS Everything good or bad in life has to come around into a circle; come to a conclusion. SD In to Kill a Mocking Bird, the story starts by telling us the end. CM It starts to come around in a circle in chapter 28 when Jem Finch breaks his arm. CM The event of Jem breaking his arm was actually told to us in the very first page of this book. CM To our bewilderment Harper lee was telling us the end in the beginning of the book when she said, “When he was nearly thirteen, my brother Jem got his arm badly broken at the elbow." SD Harper Lee keeps us guessing all throughout the book, she starts with the plot of the book to make,"Boo Radley come out." CM She distracts us for many of the chapters by making us think about topics that are of the horizon like the trail with Mr. Tom Robinson. CM Then in the last couple chapters she brings the book back around to the plot of “Making Boo Radley come out." CM In the second to last chapter, Boo Radley comes out in a way that no one would expect. CM He is there saving Jem and Scout's lives. CM After the fact, Scout greets Boo with a "Hey Boo", like she said it every day of her life. SD Scout has grown all though out the book and she has almost come around in a circle. CM She has matured into a young woman, when Aunt Alexandra first came to Maycomb her goal was to help Scout become a young woman. CM She started by saying things like this to Scout, "Jean Louise, come speak to these ladies." CM Being very proper Aunt Alexandra was trying to ware off on Scout, but Scout was not looking to become more proper. CM She was fine with the way she was, a girl who was independent, a person who stood up for herself, a young individual who didn’t know what she wanted, a young girl that didn’t think It was a problem not know what she wanted to become just yet. CS Now that Aunt Alexandra is about to leave she has reached her goal she has almost come around in a band.
TS Everything in school has to come to an end; come around in a circle. SD Essays are one thing that always have to come to an end. CM Essays are one thing in my life that are repetitive. CM You always have to start with a introduction and end with a conclusion. CM Inside the essay it ends many times, each chunk has to start and end. SD The school year also has to come to a completion. CM The teachers try to bring everything you've learned around in a circle. CM They try to bring all the content we’ve learned to an end weather it be the end of a book, or the end of a chapter in Math. SD Exams are one thing that bring the school year or the term to an end. CM They have almost everything you've learned in either the year or that term to an close. CM The exams rap everything up, and give you an idea of how much you have memorized and gained through out the year or term. CM It gives you a perspective and lets your study more and revokes what you learned months ago. CS Everything has an end, and everything does come to an end.
Weather you know it or not, everything as to come to an end. People grow and things change, which means that everything has to come to a conclusion. "Do you ever get the feeling that the whole thing is changin'? Like somethin' is coming to an end because somethin' else is beginning?" ---Mark, That Was Then, This Is Now by S.E. Hinton. Like a circle it starts and then connects back and relates to the beginning.
Self Assessment----
1.) I am continuing to work on the way my essays flow into quotes. I worked very hard on picking out the right quotes and the right places to place them carefully in this essay.
2.)I believe that one strong point in this essay is the FAST words I looked through each paragraph, looking for a word that I could substitute, searching for a word that wouldn't be "awkward."
3.) One of the weaknesses I see is some of the grammar, I tend to have problems deciding were commas go and don't go. But over-all I feel very confident.
4.) On this essay i would give my self a A- I spent a lot of time proof reading this essay and I'm very confident in it. I believe that it demonstrates some of my best work. And I am proud of the way it flows with elegance.
