ESSAY #8

 A Persons Lonely Life;
Is Not Always Bad
An Essay By Hanna Kronholm
11.20.10
Loneliness is every where weather we know it or not. People are lonely for many reasons, just because there lonely doesn't mean they're sad. They may enjoy being lonely and it might not be what you are thinking, they don't have to be walking around with their head down, knowing that they are alone, wishing that they had a friend, or hoping that they had a different life. They could be very content with their life, and not want to change anything.
          TS Dill is a very lonely person who makes things up to get attention. SD He tells stories that didn't actually happen and has a tendency to exaggerate things so that people will pay more attention to him. CM When Dill is telling Jem and Scout how he got to Maycomb he tells them, " I discovered a small animal show. I traveled with the show." CM Scout discovers that he took a train; she apprehends that he lied and this is not the first time. Dill thinks that he would become friendless if he stopped making up stories, a boy that no one talked to, a person that was scared to be himself, a son that runs away, a
 child with no stable home, one who lives with his aunt, someone who is blessed with great friends like Jem and Scout.SD You can tell when people are lonely because they are gloomy in comparison they are trying to be something they are not. CM You can see that they are pretending to smile and laugh, almost like they are searching for happiness. CM You could have a million  friends but still be lonely, if no one is there to talk to you.  CS Having a lonely life has side effects; you can be lonely without even knowing it.

  SD Lots of people in the world are lonely; you just might not know it. CM Sometimes when my family and I drive past homeless people on the highway, holding up signs, asking for food, wishing that they had a safe place to sleep, wondering if there was going to be a next meal, hoping that someone would care enough about them to listen, catching them when they fall, I think the people are lonely. CM I can't help but think that they are alone in this world; they must not have anyone to talk to.When no one will talk to you, you can't help but become lonely. CM They are longing to be heard by anyone that will listen. SD I haven't had many experiences when I have been lonely. CM Sometimes when I go on vacation I feel "lonely", although my family does a lot of things together we also want to do things apart. CM I often find myself alone, sitting on a hammock, reading a book, or taking a walk. CM The rest of my family are doing things that they want to do, my dad  is scuba diving, my mom is watching my younger sister, and my brother is running around and making new friends. CM I don't have a problem with being "lonely" on vacation; I enjoy the separation sometimes, getting to relax and do things on my own. CS Maybe we could all try to listen to someone else, "what goes around comes around"; next time maybe someone will be there to listen to you.

        Being lonely isn't something that people should fret over. If they are happy with their life and the way that they are living nothing else matters. Not even what other people say if you are truly happy than, your not lonely your sole is full of happiness not loneliness. Maybe in the end you could find peace in being lonely.

Essay #7

                                                                                   Growing Up
An Essay About People Maturing;
By Hanna Rose
English 8B
11.4.10

Jem and Scout are growing up and as they are growing up, they are changing. Jem is growing up, he is changing many of his old habits. He is very difficult to live with because he is irritable and bossy towards Scout. He also has a bigger appetite; “Atticus reckoned he was a tape worm”. Scout is beginning to be more independent.She wants to do things without Jem and Atticus. She doesn’t let Jem boss her around anymore. Scout’s growing into a young lady, a person who is ready to conquer the world, a girl who knows what she wants , one that will achieve a lot in her life, an individual who stands up for what she believes in, a daughter who is very respectful. Scout is becoming less of a tomboy, “you may become interested in cloths and boys-”, and she starts to think about what she looks like. Both Jem and Scout interact with each other, and it's not always in a proper way. They don't always listen to each other, siblings are not always supposed to listen to one another; fighting is only natural. They are sometimes rude to each other and don't respect each other.

I am also growing up like Jem and Scout. I have grown up in learning; I have grown as a person at Pine Point School, a school with a great learning environment, a society where everyone cares about you, a place that is actively involved in your learning, a campus with teachers that help you every step of the way. I have more knowledge than I did when I was in kindergarten when I first started Pine Point School. I am also more responsible and aware of what’s happening outside of school into the wider community. I can now babysit for little kids, caring for them while their parents are gone, spending time with them, taking the time to listen to them and play with them. As I have grown up I have developed better judgment. I make smart decisions and no what’s right and wrong. I am a lot alike Jem and Scout though. I still sometimes bicker with my younger brother and sister. As I have matured, I have learned that the less you fight and yell the less you get in trouble. Like my mom says, “Treat the person how you would like to be treated”.
